Day 1
Day 1
Morning
The coffee break takes place in San Gimignano, the "city of beautiful towers". A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990, it stands atop a high hill in the heart of the Elsa Valley.
Pro tip: Did you know that San Gimignano stands out for its production of saffron?
Pair your coffee with some artisanal cantucci (almond biscuits): in the local recipe, the precious red gold is added to the other ingredients, giving a truly outstanding result.

Wander around through its narrow alleys and picturesque lanes, looking skywards to admire the towers of the historic center. Plan a stop at Piazza del Duomo and, after contemplating the magnificent facade of the Cathedral, pay a visit inside - everything there will leave you breathless! Afterwards, spend a couple of hours at the Civic Museums.
Must-see: the Dante Hall.

Day 1
Afternoon
Piazza della Cisterna is a must-see spot on any visit to San Gimignano worthy of its name.
Set on top of a hill, it is a good place to rest after getting on top, mostly because it is beautiful (the most beautiful of them all!) and filled with lovely cafes and small restaurants.

Day 1
Evening
The most beautiful sunset can be seen from here, no doubt about it. At first, the sun shines on the Torre Grossa and the Cathedral, then, it rests on the olive trees and the vineyards. In front of you, a true sight to behold - a thousand reflections that turn from yellow, to red, to ochre.
It is a perfect end to the day, to be celebrated with a glass of good red wine, Chianti DOCG of course.

Day 2
Morning
The next day, plan a stop in Certaldo.
Spend the morning roaming the streets of the center, visit Boccaccio's birthplace, marvel at the Church of Saints Jacopo and Filippo.

Pro tip: travel light! You absolutely must find room in your luggage for a bottle of Chianti Riserva from the Cantina Sociale di Certaldo winery.
Day 2
Afternoon
In the immediate vicinity you can spot Volterra, famous for alabaster work and full of artisans' stores and workshops, where you can buy unique pieces of art.
After some shopping, lose yourself in the picturesque streets of the center and marvel at the magnificence of the Palazzo dei Priori (Priori Palace), with its bell tower overlooking endless views.

Day 2
Evening
The tour between San Gimignano, Certaldo and Volterra was exciting, but you feel a bit tired after 2 days on the road?
Then opt for one last, relaxing stop: sit down at the table of one of the trattorias in the center, order a nice ribollita and sip a glass of Chianti DOCG "La Campigiana".
